Chas Michael Cody Faces Multiple Charges for Fleeing Police

On April 11 at 1:45 a.m., Officer R. E. Brown of the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to the 900 block of Bensville Road in Waldorf, where a Prince George's County Sheriff's officer reported he had an intoxicated driver stopped. The Prince George's County officer had stopped the driver and identified him as Chas Michael Cody, 20, of Waldorf. When Officer Brown approached the driver's side of Cody's vehicle, Cody accelerated north at a high rate of speed. He turned into Berry Hill Manor and continued recklessly onto Pimpernel Drive. Cody fled the vehicle in the 2400 block as it rolled to a stop. Officer Brown and the Prince George's County officer quickly apprehended him. Cody was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, eluding police in a vehicle, eluding police on foot, negligent driving and other traffic violations. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
