Maryland State Police Reports for St. Mary's


On Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 9:53 am, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle on Route 6 at Delebrooke Road, Mechanicsville, for being operated with a cracked windshield, loud exhaust and a nonfunctioning brake light. The driver was identified as Benjamin Jay Shobert, 24, of Mechanicsville. A check through MVA indicated that Mr. Shobert's license was suspended and revoked. Mr. Shobert was placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest was conducted. Located in the center console was a plastic pipe containing "crack" cocaine. Mr. Shobert was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, and Driving while Suspended/Revoked. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bail review. (0682003734)

On Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 9:15 am, TFC L. Nims arrested Jason Michael Delozier, 30, of Mechanicsville on an arrest warrant to Failing to Appear in Court to answer to a charge of driving while suspended. Mr. Delozier was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held on no bond. (DJ93352)

On Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 9:45 am, TFC J. Linger arrested Aimee D. Rich, 29, of Ridge on an arrest warrant for Failing to Follow Conditions of Probation from a possession of CDS charge. Ms. Rich was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held on no bond. (4Q00030468)

On Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 2:40 pm, TFC J. Linger arrested Demeatrum Scarborough, 34, of Suitland on a Natural Resources arrest warrant to Failing to Appear in Court or Pay Fine for the original charge of possessing undersized hard crabs. Mr. Scarborough was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held until posting $250 collateral. (K001588156)

On Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 4:09 pm, TFC T. Quade responded to Lexwood Court, Lexington Park, for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival a 14 year old female advised that a 16 year old male had assaulted her. Investigation revealed that both were hanging out at the basketball courts of Great Mills High School when they began arguing. The altercation then became physical. It was alleged that the male spit at the female hitting her in the neck. While her friends were restraining her, he spit again hitting her in the face. She then slapped him. He grabbed her by the legs, lifted her off the ground and slammed her to the pavement. Once on the ground he kicked her in the chest and stomach. After being separated, they left the scene and went to Lexwood Court where the argument continued. Both juveniles were charged with assault and released to their parents pending disposition by Juvenile Justice Authorities. (0682003825)

On Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 6:00 pm, TFC T. Quade responded to Chickadee Circle, Lexington Park, for a reported destruction of property to two new constructed homes. While on the scene, the Emergency Communications Center dispatcher advised that a witness had observed three subjects leave the area on bicycles and gave descriptions. With the assistance of Deputies, from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department, the subjects were located and detained. TFC Quade and the witness responded to the Deputies' location. The witness identified the three subjects as those leaving the homes. The subjects were identified as juveniles, ages 13, 14, and 16. All from the California area. All three were placed under arrest and transported to the State Police Barrack. They were charged with Malicious Destruction of Property and released to their parents pending disposition by Juvenile Justice Authorities. (0682003795)

On Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 7:15 pm, TFC R. Rezza arrested Raymond Hale Blankenship, 39, of Brandywine on an arrest warrant for Failing to Appear in Court to answer to charges of burglary and theft. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held on no bond. (4Q00029950)

On Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 8:00 pm, TFC A. Rossignol arrested Carlos Antonio Chew, 33, of Lexington Park. A check through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) indicated Mr. Chew was wanted in PA for Failing to Appear in Court to answer to fleeing and eluding a police officer charge. Mr. Chew was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held on a Maryland Fugitive Warrant, pending disposition by PA. (5Q00033164)

On Friday, April 7, 2006 at 7:50 am, D/Sgt. J. McCauley was traveling southbound on Route 235 at Route 245, Hollywood, when he observed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. The vehicle passed and had to slow due to another vehicle in front of it. The vehicle suddenly swerved in front of D/Sgt. McCauley, who had to take evasive action to avoid a collision. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed and weaved through heavy traffic. The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as Randy Shane Weeks, 21, of Lexington Park. Upon contact with Mr. Weeks, cash was observed strewn about the front seat. A pipe, "bowl," was partially hidden under additional debris on the seat. The pipe was recovered, which contained marijuana residue. Mr. Weeks was charged with Possession of CDS Paraphernalia on a criminal citation and Unsafe Lane Changing on a traffic citation. On Friday, April 7, 2006 at 8:58 pm, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle on Charlotte Hall Road at Oaks Roads, Charlotte Hall, for having an inoperable tag light. The driver was identified as Grancis Augustius Gross, 46, of Waldorf. A check through MVA indicated his license was suspended. A check through NCIC indicated that the tags displayed had been reported stolen through Charles County Sheriff's Department. A check through MVA showed the vehicle was not registered. A search incident to arrest was conducted. CDS paraphernalia was located in his pants and jacket pockets. A smoking device with burnt CDS residue was located under the gear shift boot. Mr. Gross was charged with two counts of Theft, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, Driving while Suspended and numerous traffic violations. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bail review. (0682003843)

On Friday, April 7, 2006 at 9:30 pm, TFC A. Rossignol was conducting an accident investigation on Route 235 north of Rescue Lane, Hollywood, when a subject/witness approached an advised a vehicle had just been stolen. Investigation revealed that the victim had left his vehicle running while he was out directing traffic at the scene of the accident. When the victim observed the suspect, later identified as Bryan Matthew Pilkerton, 33, of Hollywood, get into his vehicle and drive away, he flagged down the witness. The witness and the victim followed the stolen vehicle. When it pulled into a private driveway the suspect exited and ran towards a residence. The victim and witness returned to report the theft. St. Mary's County Deputies responded to the residence and located the suspect. He was identified by the victim and witness. TFC Rossignol arrested Mr. Pilkerton and charged him with DUI and Motor Vehicle Theft. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held

On Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 7:08 am, TFC L. Nims arrested Joseph T. Morgan, 57, of Leonardtown on an arrest warrant for Failing to Appear in Court to answer to charges of possession of controlled dangerous substances. Mr. Morgan was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held on no bond. (0Q00032669)

On Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 2:55 pm, TFC L. Nims arrested Patrick J. Davern, 19, of Charlotte Hall on an arrest warrant for Failing to Appear in Court to answer to charges of possession of marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. Mr. Davern was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held until posting $3,500 bail. (6Q00032983)

On Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 6:29 pm, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle on Route 5 at Mt. Wolf Road, Charlotte Hall, because the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was identified as Timothy Daniel Prohaska, 43, of Mechanicsville. The passenger was issued a citation. Due to several criminal indicators being observed, a consent search was conducted. Cellophane bag containing marijuana and a metal smoking device, with marijuana residue, were located inside an open cooler. Mr. Prohaska was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bail review.
