Drug Arrest at a Lexington Park Hotel


Patrol Officers responded to a local Lexington Park hotel for the call of “Check the Welfare” for a female being held against her will. Officers repeated knocked on the door and as they prepared for a forced entry, the door was opened and a strong odor of burnt marijuana was detected. It appeared that the suspects took the time prior to opening the door to flush a controlled dangerous substance(s) in the toilet.

BCI Narcotics detectives responded and three (3) search and seizure warrants were obtained. Suspect Devon Johnson (Age 27 of San Jose California) was arrested for possession of marijuana and located on his person was nearly $6,000.00 in cash. As the search continued additional marijuana, as well as seven (7) large plastic baggies with marijuana residue, were recovered. A small amount of marijuana was recovered from the toilet. Detectives also located a large plastic bag containing $22,000.00 in cash, two (2) cell phones and other various items were seized. Suspect Johnson was served three (3) open warrants and the additional possession charge and related charges.

The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
