St. Mary's Sheriff Now Monitors Inmates with GPS Technology

On January 9th, 2006, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office began the usage of global positioning systems (GPS) to monitor inmates on the Home Detention Program through a contractual agreement with iSECUREtrac, Corporation ( http://www.isecuretrac.com ). iSECUREtrac provides GPS electronic monitoring solutions used to track offenders 24/7, anywhere in the world. If an offender goes somewhere that is off-limits or is not in a location at an appointed time, the system will automatically notify the Sheriff’s Office.
