Juvenile Caught with Marijuana & Weapons in Owens

DFC. J. M. McCarroll and Dep. T. B. Tilley were on routine patrol on Christmas Eve at 5:04 p.m. checking the area of the public pier at the end of Lower Marlboro Road in Owings because of recent reports of underage drinking and illegal drug use. The officers observed a Ford pickup truck parked with no lights on and occupied by two individuals. They made contact with the two occupants and detected a chemical smell coming from the passenger compartment of the truck and that one of the occupants appeared very nervous.

DFC. McCarroll obtained permission from the driver to search the vehicle and when doing so, he discovered Marijuana, two smoking devices, one known as a “bowl”, one known as a “pipe”, several knives, a black metal expandable baton, an electrical stun gun, and an air pistol, all located in the passenger’s book bag. The suspect, who is a juvenile, was charged on a Youth Report and released to the custody of his mother pending any future action with Juvenile Services or the Courts.
