Man Tries to Cash Stolen Checks at CPFCU


On December 24, 2005, Dfc. Michael Worrey responded to Cedar Point Federal Credit Union for a report of subject attempting to cash a stolen check.

Suspect Robert Loren Dowell, age 36 of no fixed address was the passenger in the drive-thru at the bank and was detained by Dfc. Worrey. Suspect Dowell admitted to cashing $1,600.00 worth of checks on four or five prior occasions. Dfc. Worrey's investigation revealed the checks, property of William Seals of Spotsylvania, VA had been taken in a burglary in November 2005 and reported to Fredericksburg VA Police Department.

Dfc. Worrey charged Robert Loren Dowell with Forgery and Uttering. Robert Dowell is held at the St. Mary's County Detention Center on $30,000.00 bond.
