Charles County Sheriff's Office Searches for Sex Offender Registry Violators

Five of the 127 registered sex offenders in Charles County are wanted by the Charles County Sheriff's Office for failing to update their registry information and detectives are seeking information regarding their whereabouts.

The wanted offenders are:

* Charles Michael Williams, 36, who last resided in Waldorf

* Phillip Keys, 42, who last resided in La Plata

* Samuel Wayne Sparks, 27, who last resided in Waldorf

* Andre Troy Stevenson, 43, who last resided in White Plains

* John C Stevens, 47, who last resided in Waldorf and is also wanted in North Carolina for failing to register for that state's sex offender registry.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of these wanted individuals to contact Special Victims Unit Det. Scott Fetterolf at 301-609-6497. The Sheriff's Office has released photographs of the offenders, which can be viewed on the Sheriff's Office's Web site at http://www.ccso.us/.

"Maintaining our list of sex offender registrants is a priority for the Charles County Sheriff's Office and we address it in a very proactive manner," said Charles County Sheriff Frederick E. Davis. "We check up on our offenders on a regular basis to ensure they are living at the address that is indicated in our records. Those who fail to notify us when they've moved or who fail to register at all will be arrested and charged accordingly."

The Sheriff's Office also wants to remind citizens they can access Maryland's sex offender registry by logging onto http://www.dpscs.state.md.us/onlineservs/sor/. There, citizens can search for registered sex offenders by name or zip code. The online registry provides the address of each sex offender and information regarding the type of sex offense the registrant has been convicted of. Those who do not have access to the Internet can obtain that information by contacting Det. Fetterolf.

Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the wanted offenders. Those with information can report their tips to Crime Solvers anonymously by calling 1-866-411-TIPS.
