17 Y/O Female Alleges Rape Against 22 Y/O in Leonardtown


On 12-02-2005 at approximately 0052 hours, the St. Mary's County road patrol responded to St Mary's Hospital for a reported rape. Patrol officers found a juvenile female (17 years old) alleging that she was raped by the known suspect, Jerry Wayne McGinnis Jr. (22 year old male from Mechanicsville, MD) a few hours earlier (12-01-05 at approximately 2100-2300 hours). The alleged rape took place at the Relax Inn, located in Leonardtown, MD. The victim advised McGinnis forced sexual vaginal intercourse with her against her will.

Detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded to the hospital and assumed the investigation. Several search warrants were executed by Detectives.

Evidence and statements obtained by Detectives supported the victim's allegation. McGinnis was located by Detectives and charged with Rape 2nd Degree. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and is awaiting appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
