On Oct. 23 at 12:14 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Woodberry Drive in Bryans Road for the accidental shooting report.

Investigation revealed a 28-year-old Bryans Road man was in his garage preparing his loaded black-powder rifle for storage when the rifle fell out of his hand, struck the ground barrel-up and fired. The round struck the victim's hand.

The victim was flown to Prince George's General Hospital by a Maryland State Police helicopter with severe but non-life-threatening injuries. Officer C. Long investigated.
