Calvert Attempted Arrest Turns into Car Chase & Home Invasion

On August 18th, 2005 at 11:45 am, Dfc Cress observed a white Dodge Pick-up truck on Md. Rt. 4 in the area of Dunkirk Park, Dunkirk, Md. Dfc Cress recognized the vehicle occupants and knew the Sheriff's Office held warrant for both Clint J. Myers, 33 years old of Dunkirk, Md. and Robert H. Myers Jr., 35 years old of Dunkirk, Md.

Dfc Cress attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle on Rt 4 and Dunkirk Park. The vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued. The suspects continued south on Rt 4 until the vehicle spun-out while trying to turn into a private driveway just south of Chaneyville Road. Both suspects fled from the vehicle on foot.

Sheriff's Office units and Maryland State Trooper responded to the scene, set a perimeter and began to search the wooded area. Trooper two assisted with an Ariel search of the area. The control center received a call from a citizen in the 7700 block of Southern Maryland Blvd., Owings, Md. The citizen said one of the suspects had broken the lock on his sunroom and was now in his house. Units responded and found Robert H. Myers Jr. in the house. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Clint J. Myers is still at large. Robert Myers was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with burglary and served with the open warrants.
