Fugitive Apprehended at White House Motel


On July 4 at 11:21 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the White House Motel at 11150 Crain Highway in Newburg for the assault report. Investigation revealed a bail bondsmen was conducting surveillance on a suspect. The man located the suspect, who provided a false name to the man. The man took the suspect to the suspect's vehicle to locate his identification and the suspect attempted to flee in the vehicle. The man got into the vehicle and a struggle ensued. The suspect was identified as Vincent Thomas Mason, 42, of Newburg and was wanted in Hampton Va., for traffic charges. The man was not injured. Mason was arrested and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer M. Thompson investigated.
