Bear Hunting Permits Lottery Available July 1

DNR will issue 200 bear hunting permits this season through a random drawing process. The hunt will take place October 24-29 and December 5-10 in Garrett County and areas west of Evitts Creek in Allegany County. The hunting season will be closed when the 40-55 bears have been harvested. Hunters can apply for a permit online or by telephone. The web-based system will open July 1. All applicants will have an equal chance of being drawn regardless of how they apply.
