Economic Development to Become Part of County Government

The County Commissioners held a scheduled closed personnel session on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, to determine which of three candidates should be recommended to the Charles County Economic Development Commission, a private non-profit corporation established pursuant to Chapter 27-18.B of the Charles County Code, for appointment as the Director of Economic Development for Charles County. The County Commissioners unanimously agreed not to recommend any candidates at this time. Instead, the County Commissioners unanimously agreed to begin the process of creating a Department or Office of Economic Development within the Charles County government, and to recruit and appoint an Executive Director under the direction and supervision of the County Commissioners pursuant to Chapter 27-18.A of the Charles County Code, at their next scheduled open public meeting session. No further determinations or actions in this matter were made or taken by the Commissioners following this determination.
