St. Mary's Deputies Have Busy Weekend


Sheriff's Office Deputy Sgt. Daniel D. Alioto stopped a commercial vehicle for speeding in the Redgate area. Upon contacting the operator, Eugene Thomas Doughty (36 years of age of Baltimore) a wanted and driver's license check was conducted. It was revealed that Suspect Doughty had an outstanding warrant through the Maryland Transportation Authority from an offense that occurred in March of 1999. Suspect Doughty was incarcerated and was awaiting a hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

Deputy Jason Maletto responded to a Lexington Park neighborhood for the reported "man with a gun" call. Detectives were also in the area and spotted Suspect Jason Andre Armstrong. Suspect Armstrong fit the description of the Suspect with the gun and upon contact fled from the Detectives. Officers gave chase and Suspect Armstrong was observed by Off Duty Lt. Lyle E. Long enter an apartment complex. Suspect Armstrong was apprehended after he entered an apartment, uninvited, while fleeing the Officer's pursuit. He was arrested and charged with Burglary and trespass as well as served an outstanding warrant for Armed Robbery, Burglary 1st degree and theft. He was incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center and is being held on a No Bond status.

Sheriff's Officer Deputy Dfc. W. Daniel Ray responded to a St. Inigoes apartment complex for the reported domestic dispute. Dfc. Ray found Victim Amy Fitzgerald suffering from a head injury and the Victim refused medical treatment. Located several doors down was the Suspect in the assault Tamara Elizabeth Higgs. It was revealed that the two were arguing over a television set when Suspect Higgs punched Victim Fitzgerald with a closed fist. Suspect Higgs was arrested and is awaiting a hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

Dfc. John W. Cusic responded to the Burger King in Lexington Park for the reported disorderly male. The intoxicated male James Johnson Morgan( 39 years of age of Mechanicsville) was threatening both patrons and employees of the establishment. He was arrested and attempted to kick out the rear windows of the marked patrol unit. Suspect James Johnson Morgan was incarcerated at the Detention Center.

Sheriff's Office Duty Officer received information on a possible location of a wanted subject through Crime Solvers. That information was related to Jesse Aaron Garner, who was an escapee from the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Sheriff's Office Dfc. Kevin Somerville, Deputy Jason Maletto and K-9 Officer Todd L. Fleenor responded to the alleged location and found that the Suspect was in fact there and hiding in a closet. The Suspect refused to exit the closet and Sheriff's Office K-9 Roni was dispatched. Suspect Garner was apprehended and received treatment for his minor injuries before being incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

Deputy Angela M. Muller arrested a 17 year old female juvenile suspect who lives in the Leonardtown area and charged her with Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Automobile Accident. The accident occurred in the Hollywood area and caused property damage to a resident's personal property.

Deputy Jason Maletto responded to the California Wal-Mart for the report of a Theft of property from the business. Suspect Herbert Gaylor Niles was arrested and charged with Theft Under $100 for attempting to steal an Automotive Power Inverter. Suspect Niles is currently awaiting a court date.

Deputy Somar K. Clark responded to the Peebles Department Store in Lexington Park for a report of theft of merchandise from the business. Two (2) female juvenile suspects ages 13 and 11 years old were arrested and charged with Theft Under $100 for stealing thong underwear. The juveniles were charged with Theft Under $100 and released to their stepfather and are currently awaiting a court date.

Deputy Somar K. Clark located Suspect Jeffrey Roland Ritter and served him with a Criminal Summons for a Violation of an Exparte. Suspect Ritter contacted his children at their babysitters contrary to an existing Exparte stating that the suspect was to have no contact with the children. Suspect Ritter was charged with Violation of an Exparte and is currently awaiting a court date.

Dfc. John W. Cusic served a Prince Georges County warrant on Suspect William Jerome Davis alleging he was in Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute and Possession of CDS. Suspect Davis is currently awaiting a court date in Prince Georges County.

Dfc. John W. Cusic located Suspect Lawrence John Calcagno and served him with a Criminal Summons for Bad Check. The Criminal Summons was issued by the Maryland District Court Commissioner and the suspect is currently awaiting a court date.
