The Board of Commissioners for St. Mary's County is pleased to announce that Ms. Maxine Somerville has been appointed as Director of Human Resources, effective Monday, February 7, 2005.
Ms. Somerville brings to St. Mary's County extensive knowledge and experience in the field of Human Resources Management. She was most recently employed with the United Nations Foundation in Washington, D.C. as the Administrative Officer since June 2003, where she was responsible for all aspects of human resources and administration.
"Ms. Somerville is a welcome addition to our team of executive directors. She brings diversity and specialized experience to the Department of Human Resources and all of County Government," said George Forrest, County Administrator.
Ms. Somerville's previous experience includes positions as Director of Human Resources and Administration with both the Center for Policy Alternatives (February 2001 to June 2003) and the League of Women Voters (February 1999 to February 2001); she was also employed with the Brookings Institution from July 1995 to February 1999 as Administrative Associate and with the Office of Personnel Management from February 1991 to July 1995 as Program Analyst.
