Thursday January 27th at 10 am, members from the House and Senate will meet on Lawyers Mall to address the media and the citizens of Maryland regarding the desire of the legislature to pass a constitutional amendment to protect Marylands current marriage law.
In July of 2004 the ACLU filed suit claiming that Marylands current marriage law is un-constitutional. The ACLU challenge is based on a Civil Rights argument, equating sexual behavior with the rights obtained by black civil rights leaders in 1964.
Between 2-4 pm, Defend Maryland Marriage and the Family Protection Lobby will host a statewide rally in Annapolis on Lawyers Mall in front of the State House. National and local speakers as well as members of the legislature will address the participants expressing the need for legislative action to prohibit the legalization of Same Sex Marriage in Maryland.
