On 01/19/05 the St. Mary's County Emergency Communication Center received numerous calls for motor vehicle accidents, assist motorist and requests for road closure updates. The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to 65 motor vehicle accidents between 1000 hours and 2230 hours. Most of the accidents required EMS response, in addition to one accident on Bayside Road, Compton, requiring Medevac, Trooper 7 responded flying the patient to Prnce George's County Shock Trauma. In addition to the motor vehicle accidents members of the Sheriff's Office responded to 16 Assist Motorist complaints. Those involved vehicles off the roadway into ditches. The officers responding checked on injuries and requested tow facilities.
On 01/20/05 DFC David Yingling responded to Seams So Old Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, Md. for a reported building fire. Upon his arrival he was met by two (2) DC Fire Department personnel who advised that they had observed the fire on their way up Rt. 5 and stopped to see if anyone was in the building. DFC Yingling located nearby neighbors who verified that no one should be in the building. Members from the various Fire Departments and the Maryland State Fire Marshall responded and investigated the fire.
