St. Mary's Sheriff's Report for January 03, 2005


On December 31st while working a Highway Safety Grant to combat Drunk Drivers, Sheriff's Office Deputy Sgt. Daniel D. Alioto conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was traveling on Point Lookout Road in Park Hall. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Michael Patrick Hawkins of Dameron. Sgt. Alioto detected outward signs of intoxication and the Suspect performed the roadside tests, which he failed. He was arrested and is currently awaiting a Preliminary Hearing before the District Court.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Michael R. Worrey located and arrested John Wesley Carter of St. Inigoes for fraud related charges. Suspect Carter took more than $12,000 for home improvements that he never performed. The Suspect was charged with Failure to perform contract and operating without a contractors license. He is awaiting a Preliminary Hearing before the District Court.

Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to a 911 call for a Domestic Dispute in the Leonardtown area. Upon arrival Sheriff's Office Deputy Kevin D. Somerville located two individuals, both were intoxicated and both were suffering injuries. Christy Anne Tracy and James Leeander Miles had engaged in a mutual combat assault. Both Suspects required medical treatment for their injuries and were transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment. Once they were released from the Hospital both parties were arrested and charged with one count each of Domestic Second Degree Assault.

Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to the reported fire at an apartment complex that is under construction on Willow's Road. Once on the scene the presence of a fire was confirmed and Fire Department personnel responded to the scene. The fire was controlled and put out. State Fire Marshall Investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation as the fire is being ruled an Arson.
