The St. Andrews Landfill and six (6) St. Mary’s County Convenience Centers will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, December 25 and 26, 2004 and Saturday and Sunday, January 1 and 2, 2005 in observance of the holidays. The Convenience Centers will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the first Monday and Tuesday following each of the holiday weekends, December 27 and 28, 2004 and January 3 and 4, 2005. The St. Andrews Landfill will be open normal business hours prior to and after the holidays.
Once again, Christmas Trees will be collected at the landfill and convenience centers, free of charge! Undecorated trees may be placed in designated areas beginning on December 27, 2004 and continuing through January 30, 2005. At the close of the 2003 holiday season, the County collected nearly 15 tons of Christmas Trees. Each year, the discarded trees are ground into mulch and used by the Department of Recreation & Parks and the Department of Public Works & Transportation in maintaining County property. In addition, mulch is free to the citizens of St. Mary’s County while supplies last.
