Charles County Sheriff's Office Report for Sept 09, 2004


POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE: On September 6 at 1:25 a.m., Officer N. Beswick conducted a traffic stop on a 2000 Grand Marquis on Crain Highway at WW Industrial Road in La Plata for not stopping for a traffic signal. Investigation revealed the driver, Jerome Francis Cook Jr., 27, of Oxon Hill, was allegedly intoxicated. Cook was arrested and a search revealed he was in possession of a handgun which was reported stolen through the Granville County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina. A K9 team searched the vehicle and located a large quantity of marijuana and a scale. Cook was charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm While Drug Trafficking, Theft More Than $500 and Handgun in a Vehicle. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer N. Beswick investigated.

BURGLARY: Sometime between 11 p.m. on September 5 and 7:30 a.m. on September 6, suspect(s) forced entry into Topus Tanning Salon in the 2900 block of Festival Way in Waldorf. Nothing was stolen from the business. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer M. Burrows is investigating.

THEFT: Sometime between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on September 5, suspect(s) stole a McLaughlin Mighty Mow from a Ford truck parked in the parking lot of Hecht’s in the 11100 block of Mall Circle in Waldorf and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer R. Garrett is investigating.

BURGLARY: On September 5 at 4 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to White Plains Wine and Spirits in the 4400 block of Crain Highway in White Plains for the intrusion alarm. Investigation revealed suspect(s) forced entry into the business, stole money and cigarettes and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-2222. Officer J. Hastings is investigating.

BURGLARY: On September 4 at 2:36 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Bryans Road Auto Parts in the 6900 block of Indian Head Highway in Bryans Road for the intrusion alarm. Investigation revealed suspect(s) forced entry into the business, stole tools and fled the scene. POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On September 3 at 10 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers were conducting foot patrols on Jameson Court in Indian Head when they observed a group of juveniles loitering. Investigation revealed one of the juveniles, a 14-year-old Mechanicsville boy, was in possession of marijuana and alcohol. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Alcohol Violation and Tobacco Violation and released to a parent. Officer C. Walter investigated.

THEFT: On September 1 at 6:57 p.m., Officer M. Wagner responded to Target in the 3300 block of Western Parkway in Waldorf for the shoplifting report. Investigation revealed a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, both of Waldorf, allegedly concealed merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying. They were charged with Theft Less Than $500 and released to a guardian.

BURGLARY: Sometime between 5:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on August 31, suspect(s) forced entry into a residence in the 3400 block of Hyacinth Place in Waldorf, stole money and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer M. Burrows is investigating.

THEFT: On August 31 at 4:30 p.m., Officer K. Evans responded to a residence in the 4000 block of Hummingbird Court in Waldorf for the report of a bicycle theft that had just occurred. Officer Evans conducted a search of the area and located a 14-year-old Waldorf boy operating the bicycle a short time later. The boy was subsequently charged with Theft Less Than $500 and released to his parents.

THEFT: On August 31 at 3:45 p.m., Officer M. Wagner responded to Sam’s Club in the 2300 block of Crain Highway for the shoplifting report. Investigation revealed Brandy Lynn Kinder, 31, of Waldorf allegedly concealed merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying. Kinder was charged with Theft Less Than $500 and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

ATTEMPTED STRONG ARM ROBBERY: On August 31 at 3:15 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the bike path in the 3000 block of October Place in Waldorf for the attempted strong arm robbery report. Investigation revealed a 55-year-old Waldorf man was walking on the bike path when two suspects approached him and attempted to take his wallet. The man was able to escape and the two suspects fled. The man was not injured. The first suspect is described as a black male between 20 and 25 years of age. He is 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, has a thin build and was wearing dark clothing. The second suspect is described as a black male between 20 and 25 years of age. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, has a heavy build and was wearing dark clothing. CONCEALED WEAPON: On August 31 at 9 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the area of Strawberry Drive and Woodberry Drive in Bryans Road for the citizen’s report of an suspicious person armed with a gun. Upon arrival officers located a 17-year-old Bryans Road boy who was in possession of a pellet pistol and a knife. The boy was charged with two counts of Concealed Deadly Weapon and released to a parent.

STRONG ARMED ROBBERY: On August 30 at 1 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Sears in the 11100 block of Mall Circle for the theft report. Investigation revealed a suspect approached a 74-year-old Waldorf woman, stole her purse and fled the scene. A short time later, the same suspect approached an 87-year-old Bryantown woman, assaulted her, stole her purse and fled the scene. A short time later, officers located the suspect in the 3600 block of Crain Highway. The suspect, Jamell Olajuwon Martin, 19, of no fixed address was in possession of marijuana. Martin was charged with Robbery, two counts of Theft and Possession of Marijuana. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond. Officer R. Garrett investigated.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL: On August 27 at 12:08 a.m., Officer E. Baker conducted a traffic stop on a 1996 Cadillac in the 3900 block of Leonardtown Road in Waldorf for a traffic violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Domonic Eric Pinckney, 25, of Waldorf, was allegedly intoxicated. Pinckney was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and released.
