St. Mary's County Police Report for August 17, 2004


Sheriff's Office Deputy David M. Yingling responded to the report of down power lines on Medley's Road in Leonardtown. Upon arrival he observed the down lines and found that they were stuck on a vehicle that was in a ditch and the vehicle had begun to take on water. The operator of the vehicle was interviewed and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. The Suspect, Peter James Mcfarland (age 18 of Great Mills) performed a series of roadside tests and failed. He was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and various traffic violations. The lines that were damaged when the vehicle struck a pole were in fact Verizon Telephone Company lines. Suspect Mcfarland was arrested and is currently incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center awaiting a bond/bail review.

Deputy Michael R. Worrey located a 17 year old juvenile in his Great Mills home and arrested him for a Juvenile Retake Warrant. The retake was in regards to an original assault charge in which the Juvenile was placed on probation and violated same. He was transported to Cheltenham Youth Detention Center to await a hearing before the Juvenile Court.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Richard W. Russell and Deputy Robert Steward responded to a Lexington Park residence for a domestic dispute. Upon arrival a male subject was found to have been involved in a domestic dispute when his wife, Suspect Tiffany Parsley (18 years old of Lexington Park) bit him. She was arrested and transported to the Detention Center to await a hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
