St. Mary's County Police Report for August 03, 2004


On 07/31/04 SDFC Gene Hill responded to the area of Newlands Street Mechanicsville for a reported fireworks complaint. The investigation revealed John Anthony May was setting off aerial fireworks that landed on a neighbors house. He was charged on a criminal citation for Discharging Fireworks without a Permit.

On 08/01/04 SDFC Diane Thompson, Deputy Jay Kirkner and TFC Tony Malaspina responded to Queen Tree Road, Mechanicsville for a reported assault. The investigation revealed John Robert Letcher had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend Kathy Collins-Stone during which he assaulted her. He was arrested for Assault 2nd degree. He also gave false name to the officers. He was charged with Assault Second Degree and Giving a False Name to a Police Officer. A warrant was also placed as a Detainer from Charles County.

On 08/01/04 DFC Edward Evans stopped a vehicle for running a red light at Maryland Rt 235 and Maryland Rt 4. At the time of the stop he noticed an odor of alcoholic beverage. DFC Evans conducted field sobriety testing. The driver identified as Lynnette Rivera of Lexington Park was arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence. The result of the Intoximeter test was .12 BAC.

On 08/01/04 Deputy Jay Kirkner received a lookout for a vehicle operating in a reckless manner in the RT. 234 and Rt. 238 area of Chaptico. He located and stopped the vehicle at Rt. 234 Chaptico. He noticed an odor of Alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. Deputy Kirkner conducted Field sobriety testing. The driver identified as Ronald Sylvester Buckler Jr. of Chaptico was arrested and charged with Driving while under the influence. The results of the intoximeter test was .13 BAC.
