Margaret Ann Stauffer, "Peggy", 74, of Colton's Point, MD, passed away on March 22, 2024 at her daughter's home in Prince Frederick, MD. Born on July 12, 1949, she was the loving daughter of the late Mary Ethel Thomas and the late James Bruce Thomas. Peggy is survived by her children, Andrew Stauffer (Kathy) of Avenue, MD, Heather Hewitt (Bobby) of Colton's Point, MD, and Dawn Wallace (Calvin) of Prince Frederick, MD, her brother, Dale Thomas of Ocala, FL, and four grandchildren, Tyler Payne, Peyton Hewitt, Hailey Hewitt, and Briona Stauffer. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Thomas, and her two brothers, James Bruce Thomas, Jr. and Robert Thomas, Sr.

Peggy was a lifelong St. Mary's County, MD resident and graduated from Chopticon High School in 1967 (the first graduating class from Chopticon). In her younger years, Peggy was a homemaker, but, later in life, she worked for the Center For Life Enrichment, which she found to be very rewarding.

Peggy's favorite thing in the world was spending time her family and pets. She had a very loving and kind spirit. Once her children were grown and on their own, there weren't many weekends when the family didn't still gather at mom's house. Once the grandchildren came into the picture, they were the light of her life. She was so proud of each of them and never wanted to miss a chance to spend time with them.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers recited at 7:00 PM, in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD with Rev. Kevin Fields officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Payne, Peyton Hewitt, Francis Kemp, William Joseph Kemp, James Bruce Thomas III, and Elijah Thomas.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
