Carolyn Marie Yost, 61, of Huntingtown passed away April 24, 2024 at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in Baltimore, MD peacefully surrounded by her family after bravely and courageously battling cancer for a year-and-a-half.

She was born March 14, 1963 in Annapolis to H.G. and Marie Hatcher. Carolyn grew up in Huntingtown and graduated from Northern High School in 1981. She then attended and graduated from Fleet Business School in 1982.

Carolyn married Scott Yost on June 1, 1991, and they lived in North Beach until building their home on the Hatcher family property in Huntingtown in 1998. Carolyn was a highly valued member of the human resources community in the banking industry for 40-plus years with banks including First National, Calvert, and Mercantile. She worked for PNC Bank up until her very last day.

She was a lifelong member of the Huntingtown United Methodist Church. She relied on her strong faith to get her through many challenges. Carolyn was one to always look out for everyone else, even right up to the end. She inspired others with her faith and positivity throughout her battle against cancer. Carolyn enjoyed playing Wordle and her starting word was always Faith.

Throughout her life, she most loved spending time with her kids and family. They made many great memories on beach vacations, watching baseball games, cross-country road trips, playing penny slot machines, and bowling. One of her favorite things to do was go on wine-tasting adventures and day-trips with Jessica. As long as she was with family, she was happy. She especially loved helping her family in any way she could, even long hours of yard work at Josh's property.

Carolyn loved watching her son Josh play baseball and traveling to all his tournaments from little league to college ball; she never missed a game. Recently, her love for the Baltimore Orioles brought her a lot of joy, watching most every game with her husband Scott. She was able to enjoy spring training games this March in Florida with Scott, Jessica, Grandad and Ms. Judy.

She especially enjoyed playing with her grandson JJ, who she called "little man". Even though she wasn't able to carry him much, JJ's hugs brought her so much joy. JJ always wanted his Grammy to get in his play pen with him and even when she wasn't feeling great, she got in with him and that brought a smile to both of their faces.

In addition to her family, Carolyn had a lifelong best friend in Michele Bowen. Michele is her "sister from another mother". They grew up together in Huntingtown and were side-by-side for so many lively escapades throughout their lives. Michele is an honorary member of the Hatcher family and was by Carolyn's side to the very end.

Carolyn will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Scott Yost, daughter Jessica Yost, son Joshua Yost and his wife Hannah and their son Joshua Yost Jr. and expecting granddaughter Delaney Yost. She is also survived by siblings Alvin Hatcher and his wife Laura, Darryl Hatcher and his wife Ronda and nephew Zac Hatcher, and Renee Hatcher; aunts Lois Jean Wade and Alease Hatcher; cousins Patricia Cranford, Michael Hatcher and his wife Angela, Mark Hatcher, Luke Hatcher, and Bailey Henshaw, father-in-law Paul Yost Jr. and Judy Fisiorek, brother in law Marty Yost and sister in law Lisa Yost, and nieces Rachel and Alyssa Yost. Carolyn is also survived by her lifelong best friend Michele Bowen, sister-in-law Karen Hatcher, and stepdaughter Brittany Stoltzfus and her family Manny, Arya, and Adelynn.

Sweet dreams mother, we love you and we will always miss you.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nadeem Tabbara for his never-ending support, guidance, and care he provided throughout Carolyn's fight. We appreciate the compassion the staff at Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center provided Carolyn and our entire family.
