Margaret Louise Scoggins, 99, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022. She was the youngest of eight children born on December 2, 1922 in Culpeper, VA to Lester Lee and Gussie Shaffer Clatterbuck. It was said that one could always tell when Margaret left the house because the back door and fence gate both slammed shut at the same time.

Margaret raised three children in Washington DC before retiring to southern Maryland to the quiet life, running a small farm. She loved growing everything from fruits and vegetables to flowers. She was always playing with her "weeds" as friends and neighbors joked. Her bounty was prolific and she was proud of being able to raise everything she ate. Her cooking was delicious, as many can attest. In addition to her large family of biological grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, she was known to "adopt" and "be adopted" by many others. She wore her grandmother badge with great honor and will be truly missed by all who loved her.

Margaret was a life long active member in the Baptist Church, belonging to several congregations as she moved throughout her life. Her love of Christ was a pillar in her life and she followed His example and teachings in all aspects of her own life. Sharing the gospel with friends, family and neighbors brought joy and fulfillment to her life.

In her "free" time, Margaret could be found quilting (making hundreds in her lifetime!), crocheting or working a puzzle – all while catching up on a favorite show like MASH or Big Valley. She always said she was "39 and holding" and her attitude and energy certainly matched that.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday March 28, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and where funeral service will begin at 9am on Tuesday March 29, 2022 at Anchor Baptist Church, 10440 Crain Highway, Faulkner, MD 20632. Interment to follow at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
