Ethel Gertrude (Walker) Dean, 86, of Dunkirk passed away October 12, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born December 18, 1934 in Drury, MD to William Lee and Gertrude Bell (Catterton) Walker. Ethel was one of ten children, and they were raised in Drury, now Lothian, MD. She married Emmett Dean on September 8, 1951 and they lived in Lothian before moving to Dunkirk in 1968. She was a devoted homemaker, and did so much for her family. She also owned and operated LeeAnn Card Shop in Upper Marlboro, and later Slim's Grocery Store in Friendship, with her husband. Ethel was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church since she was 2 years old, and was also a member of the Helping Hands Ladies Group and the church choir. Ethel enjoyed cooking and baking and most of all, spending time her with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett in 1982 and nine siblings. Ethel is survived by daughters Judy Warner and husband Ken of Broomes Island and Susan Ogle and husband Robert of Dunkirk, grandchildren Bonnie Warner Toffoli and husband Dan, Robert E. Ogle III and wife Sherri, Dean A. Warner and wife Diana, Randy L. Ogle and wife Laura and Ryan L. Ogle and wife Roxanne. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Laynie, Kaitlyn, Brooke, Aubrey, Noah, Shayne, Camryn, Axel, Avary, Claire, Emmett, Savannah, Elijah and Nikolai, and great-great-grandsons Hunter and Bennett and her faithful friend John T. Stott.
