Dunmore, Agnes Cecelia Woodland Newman (Age 81) of Indian Head (Pisgah), MD. On Tuesday, 19 July 2016 at 1:45 p.m. at her home in Indian Head, Maryland, Agnes C. Newman Dunmore entered into eternal rest from this restless world. She now lives in glory with her Lord and Savior.

Annie, as she was affectionately known, was born in Charles County, Maryland on September 17, 1934 to the late Agnes T. Woodland and the late Leo Phillip Woodland of Pomfret, Maryland. She was one of thirteen children.

Annie was educated in the Charles County Public School system. She received her early Christian education at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pomfret, Maryland until changing to the Baptist faith and continued her love of Jesus Christ as a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Bryans Road, Maryland. Annie was married to the late Leroy McDaniel "Mack" Newman until his death in 1975. From this union ten children were born. She later married the late Xavier Dunmore.

Agnes worked at The Crazy Carry-Out (for those old enough to remember.), The Canteen at the Washington Navy Yard and the Canteen at Bolling Air Force Base until she left for medical reasons. Her favorite hobbies were: cooking, cross-word and word search puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Solitaire (sometimes cheating), reading her bible and caring for her children and grandchildren. She joined Macedonia in 1979 under the tutelage of Pastor George Hayes. She served on the Usher Board until, medically, her doctor restricted her from standing. She labored and served faithfully to continue the Lord's work at Macedonia until her health failed.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: ten children: Leo, Sharon, Bertha, Joyce, Michael, Donnell, Stanley, Gordon, Darryl and Audrey Newman; 14-grandchildren; 35-great-grandchildren, two sisters: Mary R. Brawner and Evelyn E. Tucker, two brothers: Earl M. Woodland and David Phillip and a host of outside children who affectionately refer to her as their "spiritual mother," a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she is preceded in death by four sisters: Theresa Woodland, Elaine Woodland, Regina Muschette and Sylvia Woodland, four brothers: Vincent, William, Francis and Richard Woodland and six brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law from her first marriage.

Her viewing will be held from 9am until time of service 11am in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Bryans Road, Maryland. Arrangements by Thornton Funeral Home.
