Good Clean Fun—Soap Making
10:30 a.m.—12:00 p.m.
Ages 9 & up
Soap making goes back thousands of years. The most basic materials used for soap making were those found in nature. Through demonstrations and discussions, students will learn about the history of soap, how it was made and its many uses. Join the Plantation staff for some good clean fun.

Compass Creations
10:30 a.m.—12:00 p.m.
Ages 7 & up
This program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain insight into the navigational methods used by sailors in the 17th century. Students will gain an understanding of the science behind magnetic compasses used at sea and how they are still used today. Participants will create their own rudimentary compass and test their direction-finding skills.

Experimental Archeology Artventure
1:00—2:30 p.m.
Ages 6 & up
Experimental archeology is a hands-on way to gather knowledge about how things were made long ago. Students will engage in experimental archeology when they join the Woodland Indian Hamlet staff in exploring the nearby area to gather colorful natural resources that would have historically been used to make pigments. Students should be prepared to be inspired by all the colors found in nature—and to get messy!
