PWR!Moves is a dynamic exercise program created for people living with Parkinson’s disease and helps seniors, and people with neurological disorders and physical disabilities including stroke and MS. The PWR!Moves method was created by Physical Therapist, Becky Farley, stemming from her original LSVT BIG® clinical exercise program. A PWR!Moves class is designed to maximize every-day functional abilities through a comprehensive set of amplitude-based movements, high effort, and attention to action in multiple postures (floor, all 4’s, sitting, and standing). There are four basic skills that deteriorate with age reducing mobility—posture, reaching, twisting, and walking. PWR!Moves target these four skills with four moves known as the BASIC4—antigravity extension, weight shifting, axial mobility, and transitional movements. Classes are fun and engaging with challenging activities that change with each class and include endurance, flexibility, strength, and balance
To register call Emily J. Sullivan, Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator at 410-535-1600, ext. 8205 or the Maryland Relay for the hearing and speech impaired at (800) 735-2258 or online at webtrac.co.cal.md.us/wbwsc/webtrac.wsc/splash.html
