Grace Jean Simpson, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Waldorf, Maryland on Sunday, July 5, 2020 surrounded by her family.

Born September 8, 1929 on the Ullman family farm in Waldorf, Maryland, she was the youngest of 11 children of Charles J. and Grace Winkler Ullman. Jean, also known as Aunt Jean, Granny, and Grandma, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She married Joseph Mortimer Simpson on February 8, 1947 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pomfret, Maryland and was a lifelong parishioner. Together they raised three children – Ida, Arthur, and Francis. Jean and Mort made their living growing tobacco on the Simpson family farm.

Jean is survived by her children, Ida Schofield (Tom), Arthur Simpson (Valerie), and Francis Simpson (Brenda); grandchildren Tommy, Katie, Connie, Nicholas, and Dale; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Joseph Mortimer, and her siblings, Edith Middleton, Tony Ullman, Ed Ullman, Mary Clements, Burtice Ullman, Leo Ullman, Mose Ullman, Adrian Ullman, Claude Ullman, and Barbara Duffy.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 10am in the Church Social Hall of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, Maryland 20675. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11am in the Church celebrated by Rev. Harry Stokes, Jr. Interment to follow in the Church cemetery. Immediately following interment, fellowship will be held in the Church Social Hall. FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL SERVICES AND SOCIAL DISTANCING IS TO BE OBSERVED WITH LIMITED ATTENDANCE.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Simpson, Katie Simpson, Connie Ehrhart, Nicholas Simpson, Dale Simpson, and Claude Ullman, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, MD 20675, or Hospice of Charles County, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, MD 20603.

Grace Ann Quade, 65, of Leonardtown, Md passed away at home on July 4 surrounded by her loving family.

Grace Ann was born on November 30, 1954 to Matthew W Quade Sr. and Ann Hall Quade. She grew up in Bushwood, Md. Grace Ann attended Holy Angels-Sacred Heart School. As a young girl she joined 4H, she learned to play piano, and she took ceramic classes. She babysat for many Seventh District families. Grace Ann graduated from St. Mary's academy in 1972 and later attended Charles County Community College. After college Grace worked as an IT specialist at Webster Field for 35 years. She talked frequently about her coworkers turned friends she made there. For many years Grace Ann also worked at Duke's Bar in Leonardtown where she met her husband, Benedict D. Duke Jr. She was a member (captain) of the Duke's Bar Women's Pool Team. She and Dickie married on June 28, 1991. They have lived at their home on Breton Bay since their marriage. Together they loved to host cookouts for their family and friends at their home.

Grace Ann was a caring wife, mother, family member, and friend. Many considered her a second mother, grandmother or other family member. She was exceedingly kind and thoughtful. She could always be counted on to help, and she found great joy in caring for others. One of the things she liked to do best was sit and chat with others. She was incredibly easy to talk to and a great listener. One of Grace Ann's hobbies was taking photographs of Breton Bay and the nature/wildlife surrounding it. She also enjoyed taking pictures of all family gatherings. Her and her mother's strawberry jam was in high demand from family members. "Granny" had a soft spot for her grandson (and all children). She spent as much time as possible with him. Grace Ann was a member of St. Aloysius church and valued her prayer groups and classes. Grace Ann was a volunteer at the Blackistone Lighthouse on St. Clements Island. She looked forward to her yearly family trips to Ocean City. She was loved by many, will be missed sorely, and leaves behind quite a legacy of kindness.

In addition to her parents and husband, Grace Ann is survived by her children Sarah Duke (John Kane) and Robbie Duke; her grandson Owen Kane; and her brothers Matt Quade, Greg Quade, Danny Quade (Lisa), and Andy Quade; her nieces and nephews Caitlin Listorti (Anthony), Matthew Quade III, Lindsay Quade (Jordan F), Sean Quade (Rachel), Billy Quade, Heather Bean (Jason), Chris Quade (Casey), John Wilson, and Paul Wilson. She leaves behind her sisters-in-law Ellen Duke Wilson (John) and Diane Dorsch. She is preceded in death by her sister-in-law Rosemary Quade and her brothers-in-law Robert S. Duke and Walter "Pop" Duke.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 22800 Washington Street, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend David Beaubien at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bushwood, MD.

Paul Anthony Vogtner, 55, of Lusby, MD passed away on July 4, 2020 at his residence. Born April 16, 1965 in East Point, GA, he was the son of the late Francis Quigley Vogtner, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Zietz) Vogtner.

Paul graduated from St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta, GA. He served in the U.S. Army from March 6, 1991 until April 15, 1998, during which time he earned the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Germany). Paul began his thirteen year employment with Dyncorp as an Aircraft Mechanic on September 4, 2007.

Paul is survived by his wife, Lisa Michele (Lever) Vogtner whom he married on August 9, 2005 in Savannah, GA; his children, Kayla M. Vogtner of Caro, MI, Meagan R. Vogtner of Birmingham, AL and Nicholas G. Vogtner of Pensacola, FL; his siblings, Francis Q. Vogtner, Jr. (Alice) of Mobile, AL, William J. Vogtner (Becky) of Mobile, AL, Richard A. Vogtner (Merrilyn) of Suwanee, GA, Daniel M. Vogtner (Alina) of The Villages, FL, John D. Vogtner (Karen) of Peachtree City, GA, Mary Anne Crocker (the late Greg) of Fayetteville, GA, Marjorie E. Ebert (Jeff) of Acworth, GA, Mark E. Vogtner (Kelly) of Colorado Springs, CO and Carol E. Smart (Joe) of Locust Grove, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Melvin Francis "Bucky" Kuster, IV, age 57 of Lexington Park, Maryland, died July 4, 2020. Born October 16, 1962 in Washington, DC.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bucky, III and brother, Mitchell.

He is survived by his mother, Layne Kuster of Accokeek, Maryland; daughter, Krystal Brensinger of Lexington Park, Maryland; two sisters, Carole Kuster of Bel Alton, Maryland and Robin (Ryan) Mendelson of Greenville, Tennessee; and brother, David (Kelli) Werkmeister of Brighton, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Buddy, LeeLand, and Matthew, Jr.

Service and interment will be private.

V. Mae Morgan, 82, of Indian Head died July 3, 2020. She was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Indian Head.

Mae was born October 19, 1937 in Russellville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Joseph E. Reed and Lotta Roberta (McDougal) Reed.

She is proceeded in death by her late husband, William H. Morgan Jr. She is survived by her son, William E. Morgan (Shaunda); daughters, Sandra Jean Mattingly (Harry) and Deane Marie "Dee Dee" Grimes (Jeff). Grandchildren, Jodi Fields (Mark), Keith Mattingly, Megan Morgan (Fiancé, Lloyd Pate), Mandy King (Mikey), Caitlyn and Kyle Grimes. Great Grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Fields, Ryder Mattingly, Addison and Morgan King.

Viewing will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 10, 2020 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery, Indian Head. The Repass will be held at Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department.

We will be practicing social distancing, so we ask that everyone wear a mask.
