William Robert Wood, Jr., 89 passed away at Solomons Nursing Center on March 6, 2008. Born May 29, 1918, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was the son of the late William R. Wood, Sr., and Pearl Thomas.

Mr. Wood retired as a Fire Fighter after 25 years of service with Washington Reagan National Airport. He also worked at Hyattsville Auto Glass for over 20 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1945. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 274 and the DAV. Mr. Wood enjoyed working with his wife in their Ceramic business for more than 20 years. His favorite hobby was taking pictures of family and friends. He had a wonderful smile and sense of humor, and loved to tell jokes.

He is survived by his beloved wife Sarah H. Wood, of 62 years, 1 brother, Alton E. Wood (deceased), 4 half-brothers; Robert C., Chester A., Richard (deceased) and John Stephenson; 3 half-sisters, Betty Moore, Marion Bailey, and Harriett LeSeur (deceased); 3 children, Donald William Wood, Thomas Edward Wood, and Margaret Anne (Wood) Collier; 5 grandchildren, Katherine Anderson, Kellie Toth, Sara Pickett, Angela Emrich, and Bonnie Johnston; 5 great-grandchildren, David Wood, Sabrina Richardson, Anna Pickett, Olivia Johnston, and Kit Johnston.

Funeral Services will take place at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Old Field's Episcopal Church.
