John Cameron Alger, 60, of Bryantown, MD passed away September 17, 2014 at his residence. Born August 14, 1954 in Martinsburg, WV he was the son of Sylvester Nehemiah Alger, Jr. and Patricia Wood Alger.
As a child, John spent time in the Belgian Congo where his parents worked as missionaries. He was employed as an Insurance Producer for Health Markets in Silver Spring, MD. John enjoyed motorcycles and cars, music, playing the bass guitar and singing, and making the best breakfasts. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church and a longtime member of the choir. After his son made the high school wrestling team, he enjoyed going to his matches, and did so for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchild. John was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his wife, Diana Conner Alger; sons, John Cameron Barill and David Phillip Alger (Marget Garner Alger); daughters, Jacqueline Barill Thompson and Simone Alyssa Alger; mother, Patricia Wood Alger; mother-in-law, Mary Mourovic Conner; brothers, Robert Dana Alger and William Foster Alger; sister, Elisabeth Ann Alger and granddaughter, Willow Danielle Pyles. The family will receive friends for John's Life Celebration on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 11:00a.m. at Grace Brethren Church, 13000 Zekiah Dr., Waldorf, MD 20601. Pastor Bill Walker will officiate. Interment will take place at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, Clarksburg, WV. Arrangements provided by Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home. |
