Ronald "Ron" Frederick Jacobs, of Prince Frederick, MD passed away on September 11, 2014, at his home.

Born on June 23, 1943, in Oneida, New York he was the son of the late Helen Frances (Kemp) and the late Lewis C. Jacobs. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leslie W. Jacobs.

After Ron graduated from Oneida High School in New York, he joined the United States Air Force on August 24, 1962 and served until August 23, 1966. He made his home in the state of Maryland upon his release from active duty.

Ron joined the Prince George's County Police Department on September 19, 1966 and retired on December 31, 1992, serving 29 years. Since 2000, Ron has managed a shop at the Bargain Barn in Hughesville, Maryland.

Ron attended New Life Church in La Plata, Maryland. He enjoyed helping others. He also enjoyed playing golf, traveling, attending "Elvis" and "Conway Twitty" Impersonators shows, dancing, baseball, and football games. Ron was a member of the American Legion in Lusby, Maryland; the Moose Lodge in Waldorf, Maryland and the International Police Association (IPA) Baltimore Region 16.

Ron is survived by his best friend and loving wife Patty, two sons Bryan K. (Jessica) Jacobs of Woodbridge, Virginia and Matthew S. (Heather) Jacobs of Warrenton, Virginia, and a step-daughter, Tracie M. Rucker of Tampa, Florida; two sisters, Norma Jean (William) Baker of Canastota, New York and Carol A. Kellner of Tomball, Texas; four grandchildren, Lawson, Mia, Lily and Evan and two step grandchildren, Trevor and Stacia; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation and service on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a service at 7:00 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Ave., La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m at MD Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD with Air Force Honors.
