Peter Ignatius Marshall, Sr. departed this earthly life on September 8, 2014. He was born on October 12, 1944 and was the son of the late William X. and Elizabeth E. Marshall.

Peter was predeceased by the love of his life Joanne Louise Williams. Brothers; James W., Joseph X., Walter F., John B. and Richard C. Marshall. Sisters: Mary Gladys Johnson and Anna E. (Boogie) Marshall.

Peter attended Banneker School. In 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He did Boot Camp at Fort Gordon, Georgia and served at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri (Advanced Military Training, Demolition), Camp Beard, Korea 2nd; 72 Army Division, Fort Belvoir, VA, (Transportation), Schwienscat, Germany 2nd/ 64 Army Division, Vietnam (23rd Support and Transportation Battalion) and finally in Fort Myers, VA in which he decided to end his military career in which he received an Honorable Discharge as SP5 in 1971.

Peter moved to Washington, DC, and worked at National Capital Housing until 1975, then moved back home here in St. Mary's County. He worked for Wood's Excavating, performing various types of maintenance and farm work. In 1996, he began working at Sotterly Historical foundation as a groundskeeper until his illness no longer allowed him to work.

Peter enjoyed going to the Maryland International Raceway (Budd's Creek) every weekend, St. Mary's County fair, gardening (beautiful flowers was his specialty). He was also a very good cook. The one thing that Peter could do that most people did not know is that he could sing, He was a singer for a band that was formed by his friend Bill Latham and the band (The Silvertones) would perform throughout St. Mary's and Charles Counties and he loved it.

Peter loved and enjoyed family time but most of all being with his grandchildren Peter leaves to mourn his daughter Debra L. Williams (Reggie) and son Peter I. Marshall, Jr. (Stacey) four grandchildren Cynthia, Shyanne, Alexis, and Zachary. He also leaves to mourn his sister Dorothy A. Marshall Wise, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and especially Mrs. CeCe Price who has been so good to our family for the past sixteen years.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church Leonardtown, MD., Where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 PM with Father David Beaubien officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Arrangements provided by Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home.
