Richard Melvin Long, 71 of Lusby, MD, formerly of Waldorf, MD, passed away at his home on March 3, 2008.

Born January 7, 1937 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late George Wellington and Frances Edna Dement Long.

Mr. Long retired in 1993 from the Department of Defense as a Photographer/Map Maker after 37 years of service. He loved his computer, music, cards, scrap booking and telling jokes, he also volunteered on Jack Russell's Skipjack.

He is survived by his wife Helen Long, of 51 years, children; Rich Long, Jr., (Karen), Kelly Wacker, (Jerry) and Diane Allen, (Brian) and 3 grandchildren, Cody Wacker, Taylor Prohaska and Austin Allen.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, 2008 from11:00AM to 1:00PM in the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 where a Life Celebration will be held at 1:00PM.

In Lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Interment will be private.
