Lyles, John Wesley (Age 40) of White Plains, Maryland

On January 22, 1968, John Wesley Lyles was born to Leroy and Mary Lucille Cooper-Lyles in Charles County, MD at Physician's Memorial Hospital in LaPlata, MD.

John, the youngest of eight children, grew up in Charles County where he was educated in the public school system. He was a very talented athlete with a love for the game of basketball and football. John was a lifetime devoted Washington Redskins fan. He celebrated life with zeal. He became known to his friends affectionately as "Jammin John."

John will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. He left a lasting impression on every life he touched. His gentle smile and easy going spirit were infectious. To know him was truly to love him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son Antoine Marco Watson; his parents Leroy and Mary Lucille Lyles; five sisters Betty Riley, Patricia Lyles, Dorothy Lyles, Laverne Jackson and Mary Lyles-Moore; two brother-in-laws Stanley Jackson and Wallace Moore Jr.; devoted family friend Shirley Robinson and her son Corey Woodland; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. John was blessed to have a second family, The Queen Family: Phillip and Mary Jane Collins; Vincent; Linda (Ralph); Mary (David); Carolyn (Ivan); Joseph; Christen (Floyd); Phyllis (Lionell); Cathy (Cunnie); Elroy; and their children and grandchildren.

The viewing will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. at THORNTON FUNERAL HOME, Pomonkey, MD followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. Interment St. Catherine's Church Cemetery, McConchie, MD, Rev. Joseph C. Lyles, Pastor, Fort Foote Baptist Church, Fort Washington, MD, officiating.
