Wayne Michael Abernethy of Mechanicsville, MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2014 with his wife, the love of his life, right by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Faith Abernethy and two sons, David and Dennis Abernethy. Additionally he is remembered by his five grandchildren and one great grandson.

His earlier activities in the county included the Amateur Radio Club and dedication and service to the Boy Scout Troop 908 where his sons were members. Wayne retired from C&P/AT&T/Verizon after 35 years of service, completing his career in the up and coming field of cellular communication. He stayed busy in his retirement enjoying amateur radio, getting involved in local politics and focusing his attention on his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 1pm at Faith Bible Church - 26325 Three Notch Road, Mechanicsville, MD.
