On Friday, May 2, 2014, Gregory Lionel Barnes (A.K.A. "Tick"), 47 of Lexington Park, MD, departed this life at Pine View Nursing Facility, Clinton, MD, with his loving daughter, Shree, by his side. Gregory was born in Leonardtown, MD, on November 22, 1966 to the late Leon W. Barnes and Agnes C. Barnes.
Gregory was educated in the St. Mary's County Public School System. He was employed in the Retail and Hospitality Industries. Gregory accepted Christ into his life at God's House of Refuge under the leadership of Pastor James L. Bell, Sr. He cherished all the times that he spent with his children, family and friends. He loved to walk through the "Park". Gregory's favorite sayings were "Michael Who", "Come On" and "I know that part". He always made everyone laugh and have a good time. Gregory was preceded in death by his father and mother. He leaves to cherish his memories his five children, Shree Morgan, Gregory Barnes, Jr., Dionta Taylor, Jonathan Barnes and Vantasia Barnes, all of Lexington Park, MD; two stepchildren, Keisha Somerville and Antonio Washington, of Lexington Park, MD; three adorable grandchildren, Jayla Green, Jamari Morgan and Malaysia Barnes, all of Lexington Park, MD; two Godchildren, Likhia Swales and Kierria Washington, of Lexington Park, MD; five sisters, Brenda Barnes, of Lexington Park, MD, Debbie Briscoe, of Bushwood, MD, Pamela Barnes, of Lexington Park, MD, Leona Barnes (Darlene), of Lexington Park, MD and Faye Barnes (Lisa), of Waldorf, MD; five brothers, William Barnes (Punk), of Layette Ville, NC, Christopher Barnes, of LaPlata, MD, David Barnes, of Lexington Park, MD, Timothy Barnes, of Lexington Park, MD and Jeffery Barnes (Erica), of Lexington Park, MD; aunts, Alice Owens (Aunt Dot), of Hollywood, MD and Louise Betty Carter, of Bushwood, MD; uncles, Francis Evans, of Lexington Park, MD and Thomas Evans, of Lexington Park, MD; his Dear friend, we cannot forget, Peggy Swales, of Lexington Park, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and associates.
