CPT. William Thomas "Tom" Slaughter, USA Retired, 67, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 peacefully in his home of Lexington Park. Born April 11, 1947 in Newport News, VA.

He graduated with a degree in Business from the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in the US Army for over 22 years, retiring as a Captain. He was a logistics analyst of nearly 20 years at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, and was a life member and past President of the Optimist Club of St. Maries and the VFW post 2632.

He is preceded in death by his father, William R. Slaughter, and his brother Ronald W. Slaughter.

Survived by his devoted and loving "Shirley Girl" (Shirley Jones), his children Sean T. Slaughter, of New Jersey, Kelly D. Slaughter (granddog Brody) of North Carolina, Michael D. Valente (Tabitha) of Oregon, Kent L. Valente of Oregon, Tiffany D. Belleavoine (David) of Maryland, his mother Fay E. Gwaltney-Lemmlie, his sister Pamela C. Slaughter (Berty) and his Grandchildren, Maximillian, Callie, Timothy, Draiden, Ethan, Azaria, Amelia and Carter.

He loved his country, his family, the Washington Redskins, crabbing, and his two cats, Tigris and Euphrates. He was an honorable man, loving father and grandfather, who will live always in the hearts of many.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions to be made to Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad. Cemetery Services will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
