Jacqueline Marie Johnson, affectionately known as 'Jackie, Gannie, and Fish' to her family and friends, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the tender age of 62. Jackie quickly entered into eternal rest after a short battle of cancer at Georgetown University Hospital.

Jackie was born to the late Henry Nathaniel Johnson, Sr. and the late Georgianna Mahala Bonds Johnson. She was educated in the Charles County Public School system where she later graduated from La Plata High School in 1969. Jackie was lastly employed with the College of Southern Maryland in La Plata, Maryland, until she retired in 2010.

Jackie was a very devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and friend. To those who really knew her knew she was a very strong-willed and loving person. She loved to spend time with her daughter, grandchildren, baby brother "Bam" and baby sister "Wanda", her niece Dee Dee, and her special nephew Dameen "Cooch", and several devoted friends. Family meant a lot to her. Her grandchildren were her world, as well as her cousin Linda Thompson "Suzie". She loved spending time with her special little partner, Diago "Poodie-Smooty" Grudger.

Jackie was tough on the outside, but sweet as gold on the inside. She enjoyed listening to her Oldies but Goodies with her brother-in-law "Hop"; she would always say he has all my songs in the basement. She would yell, "Hop, play this and play that song, oh and fix me something to drink… please… my favorite brother-in-law." And, he would say, "yeah, right!"

In Jackie's younger years, she had a ride or die sidekick, you didn't see one without the other, "Dianne Coombs" whom she loved like a sister until her final day. Jackie enjoyed spending time with her special girl friends; Ann Dyson, Dale "Evelyn" Jackson, Gloria Barnes, Charlotte "Pinky" Mackall, and her special friend/Lil' Cousin, and as she would say, her daughter, Wanda Ransome-Chase. She also was an avid die hard Dallas fan.

She leaves to cherish her many memories, her daughter Naté "Tae" Thomas; her life-long companion, Thomas E. Smoot, Sr.; grandchildren, Nakeisha "Kei" Johnson, Jaquan "Quanny" Butler, Aniyah "Baby" Barbour, Mark Thomas, Jr., and Maya Thomas; and son-in-law, Mark Thomas, Sr. Also survived by her sisters, Joan Adams, Judith Woodland, and Wanda Hopkins; brothers, Kevin, Dale "André", Harris "Bam", Timothy "Timmy)" Johnson; two brothers-in-law, James Woodland and Fred "Hop" Hopkins and one surviving Aunt, Mary "Dollie" Lancaster. She had seven nephews, ten nieces, three great nephews and one great niece. Other loving extended family Thomas "Elroy", Shelley, Chrystal, Damien Smoot, and her Diago "Poodie-Smooty" Grudger, and life-long special friend, Warren H. Adams.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Nathaniel Jr., William "Larry", Gregory "Greg", Joseph "Tyrone", Darrell Johnson, niece Tanja Johnson and other aunts and uncles.
