Mary Lydia Ryce of Indian Head, Maryland, died on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in La Plata. She was 91 years old. Born on May 24, 1922 in Pisgah, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Emma V. Davis Franklin and the late Edwin H. Franklin.

Mrs. Ryce was a homemaker and mom. She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for anyone and everyone, doing ceramics, grocery shopping and vegetable gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman F. Ryce; her daughter Linda Wood; her brother Davis Franklin.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon V. Coombs and her husband Ronald L. of Richmond, VA; her son-in-law John Wood; her four grandchildren Ronald Coombs Jr., Todd F. Coombs, Kevin Wood and Kim Maggi; her six great grandchildren Summer Coombs, Jack Coombs, Joshua Coombs, Caleigh Wood, Christopher Maggi and Conner Maggi.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 4PM to 8PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646 where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 beginning at 11AM the Reverend Tim Bean officiating. Interment to follow at Chicamuxen Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are John Wood, Kevin Wood, Ronald Coombs Sr., Ronald Coombs Jr., Todd Coombs, Chris Maggi and Jeff Garner. Honorary Pallbearers are her six great grandchildren Summer Coombs, Jack Coombs, Joshua Coombs, Caleigh Wood, Christopher Maggi and Conner Maggi.
