Richard Edmund Calvert of La Plata, Maryland, died on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at his residence. He was 81 years old. Born on November 16, 1932 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Leonida Libberta Rita DiFabio and the late Fred Joseph Calvert.

Mr. Calvert served in the U. S. Air Force before being Honorably Discharged in 1955. He attended Fordham University and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1959. He worked for the Immigration Customs Enforcement of the Department of Justice for over 32 years before retiring in 1992 as a Senior Special Agent. He enjoyed sailing, fishing and playing tennis.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Culp Calvert; his sons Mark Calvert and his wife Debbie of La Plata, MD, Lyle Calvert and his wife Lori of Owings, MD and Doug Calvert of Elkridge, MD; his grandsons Troy, Alex, Ryan, and Mason.

Visitation on Thursday, March 6 from 4PM until time of service at 6PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646.

Interment will be private.
