Philip James Turner, of Port Republic, MD passed away on January 30, 2014, at the Burnett Calvert Hospice House with his family at his side. He was born April 23, 1935 in Babylon, NY to the late Philip and Martha Turner.

Phil was a Navy veteran and his 36-year career with the Federal Government included positions at the National Institutes of Health, Postal Service, Veterans Administration, and Department of Justice. He also worked on independent ventures. He retired in 1999.

Phil loved flying, bowling, and reading; his Kindle list reflects his interest in mathematics, physics, philosophy, and other sciences. But Phil's greatest passions were the out-of-doors and working on the land.

Phil is survived by his wife of 25 years, Pamela-Jeanne Moran, his children Sandra Price and her husband Calvin, Michael Turner, Donald Turner, Eric Turner, and Brad Turner, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his former spouse Margaret Turner, and his best friend, the cat Buddy.

He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Walter, and his daughter Amy.

The family will receive friends at a memorial service on Saturday, March 1, at 1 PM at the Rausch Funeral Home, 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, MD.
