James William Sheriff, Jr., "Billy" age 60, died in the Hospice House of Charles County on January 1, 2014. He was born on July 29, 1953 in Washington, DC. Billy was the son of James W. Sheriff, Sr. and Betty Lou Sheriff. He graduated from Crossland Senior High in 1971 in Temple Hills, MD.

He married Susan Ann Lockwood on April 1, 1987. They were married for 26 years.

Billy worked in the communications/electronics field for Teltronic, Inc. for 42 years before retiring in 2012.

He was also very active in supporting the Charles County Sheriff's Department and all of the volunteer fire departments and the Charles Fire and EMS Service in Charles County. Billy was also a member of the Southern Maryland Amateur Radio Club and fulfilled his retirement dream of obtaining his HAM Radio Operators License. Billy loved spending time in his swimming pool and playing with his "Best Pal" Peanut.

He is also survived by his brother Raymond M. Sheriff (Margie), niece Jessica Sheriff, nephew Kyle Sheriff .

The family will receive friends on Sunday January 5, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, MD where funeral services will be held on Monday January 6 2014 at 11 AM. 211 St. Mary's Ave., La Plata, MD 20646. Interment to follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery Suitland, MD.
