Jay Wyatt Rush, 60, of Leonardtown, MD, died November 28, 2013 at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. Born Oct. 31, 1953, in Bartlesville, OK Mr. Rush was the son of Eugene and Nadine Rush.
Mr. Rush had many jobs over his lifetime, from selling cars to construction. Most recently he worked for Southern Maryland Tri County Community Action as Construction Supervisor of the Self-Help Build Program, helping people build their own homes through sweat equity. Mr. Rush loved this job, which allowed him to help so many people. He had a knack for building things and could come up with designs for wood projects out of his head, from decks to picnic tables. Above all, he was dedicated to his family. His children always came first and he worked hard to provide for them his entire life. Mr. Rush is survived by his wife, Lydia Dixon of Leonardtown, MD; his daughters, Carrie Lovejoy and her husband Mike of Newburg, MD, and Delaina Rush of Bartlesville, OK; his sons, Jason Rush of Copan, OK and DeWayne Rush of Dewey, OK; his former wife, Elaine Rush of Bartlesville, OK; his mother, Nadine Rush of Houston, TX; his brother and sister-in-law Chris and Jenny Rush of Bartlesville, OK; his sister and brother-in-law Ann and Ben Clayton of Houston, TX; his sister-in-law Vickie Womack of Yukon, OK; his brother-in-law Steve Dixon of Leonardtown, MD; and his grandchildren Bradley Johnson, Jay Robert Miller, Darady Lovejoy, Lauren Lovejoy, Jadon Rush, Kara Rush and Derek Rush. He was preceded in death by his brother Kevin Richard Rush, his nephew Randy Rush, and his father Eugene Rush. Visitation on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 5PM until time of Memorial Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.
