James William Campbell of Charlotte Hall, MD died on November 2, 2013 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. He was 83 years old.

Mr. Campbell was a School Administrator with Charles County Public Schools for 38 years where he was a former principal of Lackey High School, Bel Alton Middle School, La Plata High School, and Charles County Vocational Technical Center and a recipient of the Washington Post Distinguished Principal. He also coached football, baseball, track, and wrestling. He was a graduate and football player at the University of Pittsburgh. He was an avid woodworker and loved Ledo's meatball subs. He also loved to go to casinos in Atlantic City and being with his grandkids.

He is the son of the late Guy Robbins Campbell and the late Margaret McGinnis Campbell. He was also predeceased by his wife Ruth Alice Sheriff Campbell; daughter, Carol Campbell; brother, Harry W. Campbell; and sister, Kathryn Krall.

He is survived by his sons, James J. Campbell and wife Joyce, John R. Campbell and wife Kelley, and Louis Watts and companion Roxanne Johnson; his sisters, Anna Ruth Koskey and Mary Lou Hugus; and six grandchildren, Amy, Jake, Sarah, Joshua, Kaitlyn, and Reagan.

Friends received on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 5-8PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646 with Funeral Service on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 10AM at Good Samaritan Presbyterian Church, 13025 Good Samaritan Drive, Waldorf, MD 20602.
