Joseph Lindbergh Swann, Sr. was born to William Alex Swann, Sr. and Sarah (Sally) Ann Swann on May 5, 1936. He unexpectedly departed this life on October 3, 2013.
On June 2, 1956, Lindbergh married the love of his life, Dorothy Cecelia Proctor and from this union they had nine children; Patricia Lee, Lindbergh, Jr., John Wilma, Veronica Rosalie, Mary Jeanette, Joyce Alberta, Cecelia Tammy, Gloria Mae and Debra Carleen. In 1985, Lindbergh retired from WSSC after 30 years of devoted service. In his spare time he enjoyed making sure that his lawn was well manicured, planting in his garden and going fishing. He enjoyed the company of family and friends. He will always be remembered as the "one in charge," the one that always demanded respect from the younger generation and what he considered a good old "honest" card game. As, you see, he never cheated, there just happened to be four jokers in his deck. Unfortunately, Lindbergh Sr., was preceded in death by both of his parents, William Alex Sr., and Sarah (Sally) Ann, one son, John Wilma, three sisters, Elizabeth Bernice, Myrtle Regina and Catherine Geneva; three brothers, William Leroy, John Richard, Sr. and William Alex, Jr. Lindbergh, Sr. is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dorothy, eight children; Patricia (Gene); Lindbergh, Jr. (Maria), Rosalie; Jeanette, Joyce (Jerry), Tammy (Joe), Gloria (E) and Debra (Charles); twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Viola Thompson, one brother, John Theodore Swann, six sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Viewing, 10am until Mass of Christian Burial 11am, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph's Way, Pomfret, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Thornton Funeral Home. |
