June Elaine Graves Shorter, 79, of Waldorf, MD formerly of Benedict, MD passed away September 26, 2013 at her residence. Born June 10, 1934 in Baltimore, MD she was the daughter of Samuel Graves and Ruth Elfleta Wright Graves.

June was a homemaker for many years, raising her children before becoming a real estate agent with Delta Realty. She then went on to work as a receptionist for State Farm Insurance before retiring and starting a third career as a receptionist for Morningside House of St. Charles, where she worked for 15 years until her passing.

She was an avid reader, loved cooking for family and friends and enjoyed eating steamed crabs. Her greatest joy was being with family and helping others.

Predeceased by her parents and brothers, Norwood and Hugh Graves, and sister Gloria Jean, June is survived by her children; Roy A. Shorter (Pamela), Melissa A. Tyner, Steven P. Shorter (Diana) and Linda M. Keyton (Greg); brother, Harry Graves; sisters, Ruth Anne Hill and Evelyn C. Fowler; seven grandchildren, Brandi Shorter, Kelly Carroll, Katie Peacher, Melanie Tyner, Casie Shorter, Steven Shorter and Rachel Volland; three great-grandchildren, Ava and Olivia Peacher and Melinda Carroll.

The family will receive friends for June's Life Celebration on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 11:00a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols. Interment will take place at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers will be Sam Graves, Chuck Graves, Larry Graves, Kenny Graves, Matt Peacher and Melanie Tyner.
