Thomas Edmund Key Perry, Jr., 91, a resident of Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, left our earthly world on September 24, 2013, ending two generations of men who had proudly carried part of the Francis Scott Key name.
Tom was born on August 4, 1922 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Thomas Perry, Sr. and the late Mary Magee Perry. He was blessed with two brothers and five sisters, an enormously loving family. Tom was married for 58 years to Edith Jackson Perry, and raised three daughters. Today, three of Tom's siblings survive: his sisters, Betty Lou & Mary; and his brother, James "Jinky". He also leaves behind his daughters, Debbie, Tammy, and Judy; and his dearly loved grandchildren, Britlin, Kailah, and Shaina. As a young man in "Pigtown", Tom excelled at basketball, football, bowling, billiards, and played the piano & accordion for his family's pleasure. He entertained many for decades with his barbershop quartet, The Blue Barons, appearing on T.V. and in productions of The Music Man. Later in life, Tom was active in The Lions Club & The Alleluias, an interfaith choir. Mr. Thomas E. Perry served in the United States Army Air Corps as a co-pilot until 1945 and will be proudly buried with Military Honors. Family and friends will be received for Tom's Life Celebration on Wed, Oct 9, 2013, 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. The Service in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Moore will be on Thurs, Oct 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The military honors service will follow at 1 PM in the chapel at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
