Jack Walter Andrews, 79, of California, MD passed away peacefully on September 1, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 27, 1933 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Pifer) Andrews.
Jack attended Culvert Military Academy and graduated Valedictorian from Valparaiso University in Indiana. In 1954, Jack joined the Army. He was honored to serve his country and continued this service by working in a distinguished position in the Federal Government for over 29 years. During his career, he traveled all over the world with his family. After he retired, he served on the board at the Wildewood Retirement Village. Jack was an avid reader who also enjoyed nature. He loved sailing, music and took pleasure in building practically everything -including a boat. He was a loving grandfather who took pride in his grandchildren's accomplishments and never missed a graduation. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his two brothers, Frank Andrews and Allen Andrews. Jack is survived by his son, David J. Andrews and wife, Angeliki Margariti-Andrews; Daughter, Alison Andrews; and 5 grandchildren, Amanda Garfinkel, Stephanie Garfinkel, Nicholas Garfinkel, Michael Garfinkel and George Alexander Andrews-Margaritis. Arrangements are being handled by Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11:30 AM at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery at 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD 21032 Pallbearers will be his son David Andrews and grandsons Nicolas Garfinkel and Michael Garfinkel. |
